Garlic tomato rasam !
3 pods garlic, 1 tomato, 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 lemon size tamarind, 2 tsp cumin powder, 1 1/2 tsp sambar powder, 1/2 tsp pepper powder, salt to taste
1 tsp grated jaggery, 4 to 5 curry leaves
A small bunch of coriander leaves to garnish
Soak tamarind in water for 5 to 10 minutes
Crush the garlic pods
Extract the tamarind juice and keep it aside, mash the tomato
Pour in the kadai and add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
Add dry red chilies, curry leaves and the crushed garlic pods
Sauté the garlic for a bit
Now add the mashed tomato
Cook it well and then add the tamarind extract
Add turmeric powder
Once it comes to a boil as shown in the picture, switch off the stove.
Garnish with coriander leaves
