Garlic tomato rasam !2

3 pods garlic, 1 tomato, 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 lemon size tamarind, 2 tsp cumin powder, 1 1/2 tsp sambar powder, 1/2 tsp pepper powder, salt to taste 3

1 tsp grated jaggery, 4 to 5 curry leaves 4

A small bunch of coriander leaves to garnish 5

Soak tamarind in water for 5 to 10 minutes 6

Crush the garlic pods 7

Extract the tamarind juice and keep it aside, mash the tomato 8

Pour in the kadai and add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 9

Add dry red chilies, curry leaves and the crushed garlic pods 10

Sauté the garlic for a bit 11

Now add the mashed tomato 12

Cook it well and then add the tamarind extract 13

Add turmeric powder 14

Cumin powder 15

Sambar powder16

Pepper powder 17

Salt 18

Add jaggery 19

Once it comes to a boil as shown in the picture, switch off the stove. 20

Garnish with coriander leaves 21
