Black Forest cake is coming as a Christmas special!! This cake is well known as King of Cakes! A very rich cake made with simple ingredients.


All purpose Flour/Maida  2 Cup
Unsweetened Cocoa Powder 3/4 Cup
Baking Powder 2 tsp
Baking Soda 1 Tsp
Sugar 2 Cups
Salt 1/2 Tsp


Melted Butter 1 cup (2 Sticks)
Vanilla Essence 1 Tbsp
Eggs 3 Nos
Milk 1 Cup

Maraschino Cherries- 750 Gms

For Cherry sauce:

Reserve 1 cup of juice from the cherries.  These cherries have stem in it. So reserve 6 to 7 with stem for decorating the cake and remove the stems from the remaining.

Sugar- 1/4 cup

Take 2- 6 inch round cake pan. Apply butter and place a parchment paper on top of the butter layered pan

Pour all the dry ingredients in a sifter and sieve to make sure no lumps. Then, add all the wet ingredients too. ( Sorry, forgot to take the picture of adding the wet ingredients)

Mix everything well with an electric hand mixer for about 5 to 7 minutes in a medium speed

The batter will look like the above picture

Now pour the cake mixture evenly in the prepared cake pan

Bake it at 350 ° F or 175° C for 30 to 35 minutes

In the meantime, prepare the cherry sauce. 

Add the reserved cherries along with the 1/4 cup of sugar and bring it to a boil until the cherries are half mashed and the waters are mostly absorbed

Once the cake is done, remove the cake from the oven. Make sure a tooth pick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Let it sit in a wire rack for 10 minutes. After that, remove the cake from the pan and place it in the wire rack and remove the parchment paper too. let it cool completely.

Whipped topping:

Heavy Whipping Cream: 3 Cups

Powdered Sugar- 3/4 cup

Pour both into a wide vessel (The vessel  need to be placed in the freezer for at least 30 minutes, before making this whipped topping so that the whipped cream stays cooler) and start mixing it with an electric hand mixer until soft peaks are formed as shown in the picture above.

Cut each cake evenly into 2 pieces, so that you will get 4 layers of the cake.

Layer the first cake in a sheet, slowly pour the reserved cherry water. Do not over do it, or the cake will get soggy. Then, layer it with the whipped cream, slowly spread it on the cake as shown above. Then add the cherries in the sugar syrup.

Likewise, finish up all the layers of the cake.

Then, completely cover the cake with the whipped topping

Spread the whipped cream evenly and slowly all over the cake

Top the cake with some chocolate shavings

Then with the help of a pastry bag, decorate the top of the cake with the remaining whipped cream as shown above

Finally add the cherries with the stem we reserved before on top of the cakeEnjoy!
